What are the Core Four?
The Core Four Framework
The Core Four is not just a list of experiences – it's a framework for transformation. Students intentionally prepare (Plan), engage in high-impact, hands-on experience (Do), and integrate and articulate their learning (Reflect).
Expand your education by studying away
At University of Redlands, education abroad is at the core of the Bulldog experience. Undergraduates in the College of Arts & Sciences can select adventures from May Term courses, semester-long study abroad, or our signature Salzburg Semester. Supported by scholarships, grants, and dedicated advisors, Redlands ensures that study away is accessible, meaningful, and transformative for every student.
Make an impact through community service learning internship
The Community Engagement and Reflection (CER) requirement is more than a box to check at Redlands. It is an invitation for students to create a meaningful journey of service and growth. From community service internships to volunteer opportunities on and around campus, students engage deeply with the issues through service that matters.
Build professional networks through career internships
The Office of Career and Professional Development (OCPD) provides students with Career Prep resources to prepare personally and professionally for their future. First-year students can join the EDGE program to build a strong foundation for success. And, all students have the opportunity to gain experience through internships, networking, and professional pathways. With resume support, professional assessments, and mock interviews, OCPD guides Bulldogs during their time at the university and after graduation.
Real-world opportunities in undergraduate research
Students at Redlands are offered a range of research opportunities, including a 10-week Student Science Research Program where they work closely with faculty on projects in biology, chemistry, physics, and beyond. Additional experiential learning opportunities are also available across other academic programs, giving students hands-on experience that deepens their education.
