What is Academic Success Coaching?
Similar to how an athletic coach encourages and supports you in becoming your best athletic self, our Academic Success Coaches can help you become your best academic self.
Academic Success Coaches help you develop skills and strategies to successfully navigate college and realize your full potential. Coaches will work with you to identify and utilize new learning tools and strategies to help meet your academic and personal goals during your time at University of Redlands.
Our coaches are different from academic advisors or counselors/therapists in that they help you develop academic and personal skills to become a stronger student. Through a series of one-on-one appointments, you will work with your coach to grow in academic strength, grit, and resilience to get you where you want to be academically.
Academic Success Coaches provide holistic support in the following areas:
- Motivation
- Goal setting and attainment
- Effective study strategies
- Problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Time management and task prioritization
- Recognizing and marketing your strengths
- Adulting

Meet the Academic Success Coaches
Hello, my name is Rachel Elliott, and I am currently pursuing my Master’s degree in School Counseling (K–12 and College track) at the University of Redlands, with the goal of becoming a counselor at the elementary school, high school, or college level. I also hold a Master’s degree in Child Life from the University of La Verne. Currently, I work in the Redlands Unified School District, supporting Transitional Kindergarten and Kindergarten students with special needs.
Outside of my professional and academic pursuits, I enjoy hiking, spending time at Disneyland, watching Harry Potter marathons, and sharing time with my family and boyfriend.
My passion for counseling stems from my own educational journey and the challenges I encountered along the way. These growing pains have given me a unique perspective, as well as strategies I am eager to share with others. I am committed to empowering students to overcome obstacles, discover their strengths, and navigate their paths with confidence.

Hi, my name is Evely and I am a second-year graduate student in the School Counseling college track program. On top of being an Academic Success Coach, I am also the Graduate Assistant for the university's HSI (Hispanic Serving Institution) Office, Graduate Admissions Office, and the International Students & Scholars (ISS) Office. In my free time I like to go on picnics, read, try new vegetarian recipes, see a new Netflix documentary, or crochet.
I am driven by the desire to empower and encourage students and aim to meet you where you are.

I'm Tony, a senior psychology student at the University of Redlands preparing to apply for graduate programs in clinical mental health counseling. I've navigated my own academic journey with effort and persistence while balancing various life challenges, and I understand the complexities that come with college life.
My approach is to help students identify and build upon their existing strengths rather than focusing primarily on what needs to be fixed. I believe in finding sustainable balance across academics, personal well-being, and social connections while getting acclimated to campus life.
I understand that college can be overwhelming, especially when managing mental health concerns, social dynamics, or simply trying to figure out how to maximize academic effectiveness without burning out. Having worked with diverse populations, my approach is straightforward and non-judgmental—sometimes a small shift in perspective or approach can help you work smarter rather than harder. I meet students where they are and help them develop practical strategies that work with their unique circumstances.
